Start time: Monday 4th October - 8:00pm BST.Channel number: Virgin Media – 178 HD, 118 SD.ITV4 will show the highlights of each MotoGP round in 2021, including highlights of the Moto2 and Moto3 classes, which will be broadcast on each Monday evening after the race. Photo by: Gold and Goose / Motorsport Images How can I watch the Americas MotoGP highlights? 35 mins.MotoGP also offers its own live online video streaming service which is available to stream in the UK.
The full race is on YouTube my husband and I both watched it. F1 is probably the reverse being too UK focused. They will focus on their own nationals and other Europeans first. In some respects it's the fault of MotoGP not including British riders at the top level but then what you expect with a Spanish owned sport. As they can sell the story of those local riders. I guess why the decided they would focus on the British riders in the lower tiers. Regarding the ITV coverage I guess they assume serious fans will be watching via BT.
Is why even the likes of Now offer an upgrade boost to get 50fps for their sports subscription. Is why football looks crap at slower frame rates, same for motor racing including bikes which are also fast moving. Just look at all the moans in the football threads here where live online games are 30fps or 24fps rather than 50fps. I'll give ITV4 coverage one more week, but if there's no improvement I shan't bother with it any more. I wonder if that's because the recording posted was at 30fps whereas normal telly and film viewing is 24fps? Firstly, it certainly wasn't the whole race (just 17 minutes of racing) and the coverage seemed rather jerky to me. I downloaded that and played it through on the TV. Some kind soul on here pointed out that the whole of the MotoGP race had been posted on YouTube. and where was the noise of the motorcycle engines? I might just as well have watched it with the sound off, for all the viewer experience I had. The commentary was too loud and excitable. Nearly all the camera coverage was from wide angle helicopter shots, not much from track side and very little from the bikes themselves, this latter feature being responsible for some really excellent immersive coverage in recent years. Not at all good!Īpart from the fact that the transmission was only in SD (Quest HD was a considerably better viewing experience), there was far too much of the 'little' races and not very enough of the main event. I'd certainly have preferred Gavin Emmett and Neil Hodgson commentating (it seems Keith Huewen has left this year), but it was the mysterious lack of bike audio that left me scratching my head, even from the onboard footage - was this so the 'schoolboys' could shout all over it? Come on ITV, you can do better than this.įinally got to watch my recording of ITV4's coverage of the weekend's races. It does seem odd that ITV has put its own team together though, as previously it's just been an edited package of BT Sport's coverage. I quite like the junior races, as they often keep you guessing until the end as to who's going to win, but the show IS called MotoGP for a reason. I hope ITV4 will see the need to improve. After staying off Twitter for 36 hours I felt badly let down. Personally I watch for the main race, I don't care about the nationality of the riders so the extended coverage of the junior races is another negative. After Kieth Huawen and Neil Hodgson these two sound like a couple of schoolboys who had broken into the studio. The abysmal quality of the commentary and the absence of any sound from the bikes was really disappointing. Ad breaks are getting longer too, which doesn't help. Not entirely sure they're getting the point, there, but it was the presentation as a whole that didn't really grab me.Īs for adverts, it doesn't seem to matter what channel you're watching (even Quest), you're always going to get three breaks in a 1-hour programme if it's not guaranteed live and uninterrupted (which highlights packages generally aren't). However, I believe this year ITV4 have said they're going to show more of the Moto2 and 3 races because of the British riders in them since we're not represented in the MotoGP championship in 2021.
Quest/Channel 5 last year were showing extremely brief Moto2/Moto3 highlights plus pretty much the whole of the MotoGP race.
